Our History
Phnom Srey Organization for Development (PSOD) is a Cambodian non-governmental, and non-profit organization. PSOD was organized in reaction to problems of women in Kampong Cham province that were not being addressed. First, HIV/Aids were increasing in the province. As a result of this, hardships upon families, were also increasing. It was particularly painful to see the discrimination, and at times physical violence perpetrated upon women who were HIV positive. Furthermore, the inequality of women and men was disturbing as women with low education and no power in society were having their rights abused and because of their gender, they had low quality or no legal assistance in trying to restore their rights.

PSOD was established in November 1998, with the aim of addressing these problems and contributing to the development of Cambodia. The organization was registered with the Royal Government of Cambodia, Council of Ministers in January 1999 and with the Ministry of Interior in October 2000. On November 2010, its name was changed from Phnom Srey Association for Development (PSAD) to Phnom Srey Organization for Development (PSOD). PSOD is led by a female Executive Director with support from a board of five directors, one of which is female. PSOD has five management team members including three women. At the time of writing, there were 37 staff, including 17 women.
